|W. Eugene (Gene) Caldwell is a native-born Georgian, having lived in Coastal Georgia all his life. He was admitted to the Bar in 1976 and has practiced in Brunswick, Georgia for his entire professional career.
His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1968, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University in 1973, and a Doctor of Law degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1976. Gene was a member of Sigma Nu social fraternity and Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity. Gene served his country as a Naval Aviator in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1973, when he resigned his commission as a Lieutenant to attend Emory Law School.
He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, serving as Vice-Chair of the Elder Law Section of the State Bar in 2006. He is a member of the Brunswick-Glynn County Bar Association and was President in 1982. A long-time member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Gene has been active in this organization which specializes in the legal needs of seniors since 1998.
His practice areas include elderlaw, wills and trusts, estate planning, probate and probate litigation, real estate, corporations, civil litigation in all courts, and business law and organization.
Gene is married to Jill Anderson Caldwell and they have two sons, William Eugene Jr., and John Clayton. They reside on St. Simons Island.
